Helping Trainees through MRCGP
Helping trainees through the ever changing requirements for MRCGP can be a real nightmare. However, the assessments that form the WPBA can be a real help in diagnosing how best a trainee could improve. On the other hand, the evidence that accumulates can be extrememly useful in the rare situations when a trainee has serious issues of competence or probity.
Amar Rughani from Sheffield has used the RDMp model devised by Tim Norfolk to map out the competences required for completion of MRCGP. This model was used in a recent trainers workshop looking at how to help all trainees and not just those with an obvious problem. Amar has produced a really useful book who writes Crammer's corner in Innovait produced a really useful book - Becoming a GP.
Included in the book are some useful forms for helping to get down on paper those areas where a trainee can develop. Download the forms and try using them to analyse a trainees needs. |
