OOH Monthly Schedule

Month 1- of your first placement in general practice ST1/2

• Make sure you have a Smartcard enabled for OOH work (see section “how to arrange OOH”)
• SystmOne training –if your practice uses SystmOne you will have training in your practice.  If not, you should access the training guide  System One OOH Guide 2009 and learn how to use the system in your first few weekday evening sessions.
• Book paired sessions for month 2
• Look at your scheme- plan when you will apply for and attend the Yorkshire Acute Care 2 day course.

Months 2, 3 , 4 & 5

• Do your 2 paired sessions
• Make a record in your learning log with length of session, details of patients seen, describe your learning. Get into the habit of doing this contemporaneously.
• book your paired sessions for month 3

Month 6

• Do your 2 paired sessions
• Make a record in your learning log with length of session, details of patients seen, describe your learning.
• Use the deanery charts to add your OOH accrued recording- add this as an attachment to your e.portfolio
• Discuss your OOH learning with your clinical and educational supervisors.

NB! Month minus 1 of your full year ST3 in practice

Book paired sessions for month 1

Months 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 &11 of ST3

• Book telephone triage training
• Do your 2 paired sessions
• Make a record in your learning log with length of session, details of patients seen, describe your learning,  check that you are covering competency areas as you progress- make it clear in your learning log,  so that it is straightforward for your trainer to validate.
• book your paired sessions for month 2/ and or telephone triage

Month 12 of ST3

• Do your 2 paired sessions
• Make a record in your learning log with length of session, details of patients seen, describe your learning.
• Use the deanery charts to add your OOH accrued recording- add this as an attachment to your e.portfolio
• Discuss your OOH learning with your clinical and educational supervisors.

- complete 3 telephone triage sessions and 7 paired sessions with Airedale LCD in your ST3 year and before your end of ST3 panel review which takes place early June.
